An Epilogue

A person truly does not know them self until they write about it. As humans, it’s natural for us to create habits, it is something we have done ever since we have left our mother’s womb. These habits that us humans have created has blinded us. Sometimes we don’t know who we truly are until we actually must think about it. In the beginning, I honestly didn’t want to do these blogs for class but seriously…who didn’t? What I’m trying to say is that by doing these blogs that were assigned to us, in spite that we could choose eight blog posts, I learned more about myself unexpectedly. By doing these blogs, I’ve learn that everybody is unique in many ways. By writing it down, it allows me to think more about my life and share it with my peers.

I wouldn’t say that making this blog has changed me or the outlook of my future but it sure has taught me more about myself. Since I got to actually write down my thoughts, I have started to appreciate everything my family has done for me even more. I know that their life in Vietnam was tough prior to this blog but the more it lingers in my mind, I’m more thankful for everything in life and of course, life. I don’t know if I would consider this as change, but it is an improvement in my point of view. I was never good at English or writing growing up. Now that I am obligated to do these blogs, it has sprung out the writer inside of me. If I go back into the past a couple months before I post this epilogue, I would have never guessed that I could write all these posts. Although I still dislike writing, I enjoy sharing my life and thoughts with my peers.

My favorite piece of writing must be “Advice to the Young.” I find this ironic because I still consider myself young. I enjoy writing this post the most because I felt like an adult during the time spent writing it. I learned the most about myself in this post because I mention characteristics and traits that I wish I have or to improve one day. I, like any normal future parent want is the best for my children. I believe by telling stories based on experiences are the most effective way to teach a lesson. What I love the most about it is that the morals I wrote are the same morals I grew up with. The same exact morals my mom has taught me and that these morals have prepared me for a successful future. Since I know that good ethics and morals are successful, I will too pass it on to the future generation.

Thank you to those who were on this journey with me. It took awhile to finish this blog, but it was fun. I hope the writing of my life has given you positive ideas. Remember, All I Do is Nguyen!

Are You Hungry?

I’ll be straightforward about this subject. I am a small Asian guy that loves to eat!!! I love many different type of cuisines and I try my best to follow the philosophy of “if it looks good, then eat it.” When I think of my best meal, I immediately think of the meals that were served on the Carnival Cruises. Lets start of with the appetizer. The appetizer was a fusion of sushi that contained a mix of California roll and Philadelphia roll. Although the rice was plentiful, the ingredients in the middle was the perfect amount. Dab the sushi with a little soy sauce and a slice of ginger and it will be the most amazing appetizer in a three-course meal. The main entree that was served was three thick slice of medium rare steak smothered in their special gravy with mushrooms underneath and a side of mashed potatoes. As a food fanatic, I know that this particular steak is going to be amazing just from how tender it was when I sliced it with my knife. My knowledge did not fail me, til this day, the steak I had on the cruise is the best steak I have ever eaten. For those that still have an appetite left, the desert is always the most exciting part and best way to end a dinner. For this particular meal, I had a caramel creme which was practically flan. The way they prepared it is and will probably be the most beautiful flan I’ve ever seen and taste. The balance of the caramel and the flan was on point! The whip cream topped it off perfectly and voila, “The Perfect Flan.” So for my favorite meal, this meal during my cruise to Mexico will be my favorite one.

Things that have moved me: Seeing others getting baptized, noticing the growth of a person ever since they were born, soldiers fighting for our beloved freedom, it’s my senior year, families in the hospital during Christmas, and people dying at an early age.

Ideas that intrigue me: Nutella in frozen yogurt, goal-line technology in soccer, the insects that we hate such as spiders and bees help us live everyday, what if Hitler invaded Great Britain successively, the journey of how my family is in America, and what if this life is a dream in another life.

One Medium Suitcase

It’s scary to think leaving home forever, but if that is my one and only choice then this is what I will stuff into my suitcase. I would first off, bring my phone because it will be my way to contact home and it has many convenient apps. My iPhone has apps such as weather, calendar, and bible. My phone is also an electronic to play with during spare time. I will keep a suit in my suitcase because if I’m going to be limited with clothes, then why not look good all the time? I like looking good because a person can never get a second first impression. When a person is in a suit, people know that you are ready for some business. Lastly, there’s nothing wrong with looking good. Putting on a suit might take awhile but in the end it’s worth it because the ladies will like it. I will also carry my drumsticks in my suitcase because I will want to take music with me where ever I go. What makes drumming special to me is that a drummer doesn’t need a drum to play on. With a little creativity and a pair of drumsticks, a musician can make real music out of that. Finally, I would carry pictures of my love ones. For they are the ones that have always been there for me and they will be horribly miss.

Advice to the Young

To the child I hope to have one day,
Life goes by quicker than you think. Every day may seem slow to you because you are young and your brain isn’t fully developed. Enjoy your childhood, it’s okay to be crazy once in awhile because you’ll have hilarious stories to tell me and your friends when you grow older. Find a musical instrument that you love, because I’m going to make sure you’ll master it. Music is something you can do for the rest of your life. Music is unique in so many ways because it’s a language spoken throughout the whole world. Music, no matter what instrument you learn, can tell a man’s life. If you learn how to play it well, then you can bring joy and peace to everyone’s ears. It is proven that musicians tend to have a better IQ. In this competitive world, I don’t want you to be mediocre. I want you to be at the top and be the best that you can be. Make sure that you do well in school and obey your teachers. Education is very important in life and it will take you far. Remember to have ambition and motivation in everything you do. You will have an amazing mindset in everything you do if you have that drive for success. You will create enemies and haters but remember that you’re the one that is chasing prosperity. Most importantly, I want you to always remember to praise the lord, our God. I might forget you somewhere or something similar but He will never leave your side. I know this isn’t much, but it’s a start. Do well in life kid!

Room Sweet Room

Everyone knows when they are in their own bedroom because it’s a home within a home. My bedroom is a place where I can always relax and think about my future. My bedroom consists of many objects that describes me. I have a very comfortable queen size bed. This portrays a very enjoying part of my life call sleep. Although I don’t sleep as much as I use to, I enjoy every minute of it now because of a stressful teenage life. In my room, you will see a lot a lot of technology such as a computer, Xbox 360, big flat screen tv, phone, iPods, and an iHome. I guess you can say that I’m trying my best to stay with the modern technological era. I really love electronics because it’s something I enjoy using when I’m stressed out or when I have spare time. Lastly, one thing that makes my room unique is my bible. I have faith the one true God and I know that he has a great plan for me. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
